The car dies and doesn’t start until it has cooled down

A problem that often occurs with Saab 9-5 is that the engine suddenly stops, both while parked and while driving. The car may not start immediately since it needs too cool down for 10-20 minutes.

The error is in 9 out of 10 cases due to a faulty crankshaft position sensor, which is a cheap and easy part to replace. It’s positioned in the front part of the engine and can easily be changed on your own parking lot.

We have published a guide on how to replace the crankshaft position sensor on Saab 9-5. Read it here!.
